Maraschino Cherry 01

A home-style Maraschino Cherry 01 made with Flour, Granulated Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt, and Maraschino Cherry Juice. Scale it up or down for the number of people at the table.

Ingredients

• 3 3/8 cup
• 2 cup
• 4 1/2 tsp
• 1 1/2 tsp
• 3/8 cup
• 3/4 cup

Method (preview)

   Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

   Add soft shortening, cherry juice, cherries, nuts and milk.

   Beat 2 minutes with electric mixer.

   Add egg whites and beat 2 minutes more.

   Pour into pans that have been greased and floured.

   Bake layers at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

   Let cool in pans for 10 minutes then remove from pans and finish cooling on cake racks.
