   In a heavy saucepan, stir together sugar and cornstarch.

   Stir in mashed peaches and water.

   Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and begins to thicken.

   Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, 1 minute.

   Cool mixture while making the rest of the filling.

   In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy. Fold in whipped topping.

   Spread cream cheese mixture in cooled pie shell.
