Method (preview)

   Cream sugar and oil; add eggs and vanilla; beat well.

   Add flour with spoon then add pears and nuts.

   Pour in greased pan and bake 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees.

   Add hot water to sugar (just enough to make it thin enough to pour over cake). Let cool.
