   Mix vegetables and salt; let stand 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Drain and rinse well. Combine syrup ingredients; heat until scalding hot. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add vegetables; mix well. Heat through, but do not boil. Process in pint jars.
