Rinse and then hull the fresh strawberries. Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor.

Combine the milk and cream with the sugar. Whisk for about 2 minutes or until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the vanilla extract and the pureed strawberries. Chill if necessary. Freeze according to manufacturers directions.
If using frozen strawberries that have been packed in syrup, reduce the sugar in the recipe accordingly.
