   Nutmeg is a favorite among spices and finds its way into any number of baked goods, sauces, fruit desserts, and puddings. Eggnog is not official until it is topped with a sprinkling of nutmeg. Nutmeg is sold ground and whole, although for the best flavor it is advisable to buy the whole seed and grate it as needed.
