Oatmeal Ice-box Cookies

Make Oatmeal Ice-box Cookies at home with Brown Sugar, All Purpose Flour, Butter, Soda, and Sour Or Buttermilk. Scale it up or down for the number of people at the table.

Method (preview)

   Combine sugar, oats and flour.

   Cut in butter and lard as in making pastry.

   Lastly add the soda dissolved in the sour milk.

   Work together till it forms a dough.

   Then form into a large roll and chill at least overnight.

   Slice very thin for a crisp cookie and place on greased cookie sheets.
