• 1.0 cup Sugar
• 1.0 can Evaporated Milk

   To make filling/frosting: Put egg, sugar, evaporated milk, vanilla, salt and butter in a 2-quart saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 8-10 minutes. Do not boil. Remove from heat and stir in coconut, nuts and cherries. Let frosting cool, then frost cake.
