   Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs. Sift together 2 3/4 cups sifted flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt and add to creamed mixture. Form walnut-sized balls and roll each in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
